LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is headed to prison for a violent crime spree that police said started in the summer of 2023.

Christopher Thompson, 24, was found guilty of robbery, kidnapping, sodomy and sexual abuse on Thursday. He faces a sentence of 65 years for a series of what Louisville Metro Police called "heinous offenses."

Thompson was arrested in Jan. 2024 for an attack on a woman in south Louisville. In July 2023, officers said the woman was in the parking lot of her apartment complex on Yazoo Street near PRP and Valley Station after a night out.

"While she was sitting in her car, the suspect approached the vehicle, pointed a gun at her, and demanded that she move over into the passenger seat," LMPD Detective Eric Goldschmidt said.

Thompson wore a ski mask and had a gun when he abducted the woman. Police said he forced her into her own vehicle and drove to Sanders Elementary School, where he held her at gunpoint and forced her to remove clothing and perform sexual acts.

Police said Thompson then drove the victim to a Chase ATM on Dixie Highway, forced her to withdraw $220 before returning to the school and assaulting her again. He ran from the scene after the second assault.

DNA evidence was collected, when the woman was treated at the hospital. Police said the DNA from the woman's SAEK or Sexual Assault Evidence Kit and her car matched Thompson and allowed investigators to get an arrest warrant.

The attack was one of six incidents investigated by police in southwest Louisville that happened late at night at or near apartments off Dixie Highway in the summer of 2023.

Thompson is scheduled to be formally sentenced on Feb. 2, 2026.
