LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Body camera footage released out of Florida shows the Louisville woman who disappeared with her daughter Michelle Newton 42 years ago in shock over being arrested.

The video centers around a missing persons case in Louisville that went unsolved for decades until earlier this month.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said Michelle Newton was found alive in another state after being abducted in 1983.

Detectives in the custodial-kidnapping investigation said Michelle Newton called police after discovering her true identity.

Her mother, Debra Newton, is facing felony charges in Jefferson County in connection to the abduction after she was identified through a Crime Stoppers tip.

Body camera footage from the sheriff's office in Marion County, Florida, shows Debra Newton's arrest.

In the video, she's heard being called "Sharon."

"Uh oh, they're coming for you Sharon," one person said.

"Well we're here for you ma'am. Definitely here for you," an officer said.

Debra Newton faces a felony charge of custodial interference, which carries no statute of limitations. That means the case can still be prosecuted, despite 40 years going by.

A family member posted her bond in Kentucky, and Debra Newton voluntarily appeared in Jefferson County for her arraignment, where Michelle and Joseph Newton, her father, were in attendance.

Michelle Newton, her daughter, was considered missing after she vanished with her mother when she was 3 years old after one final phone call with Joseph Newton.

Michelle said she never knew she was a victim until she "saw everything she had missed."

She was reunited with her father and extended relatives with the help of detectives from Jefferson County.
