LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- LMPD said a home intruder is in the hospital after his victim stabbed him back.

Police said this happened in Louisville's Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood at 11:24 p.m. on Friday night. LMPD said the suspect wore a mask and broke into a house in the 3200 block of Springfield Drive.

A husband and wife were home at the time. The intruder stabbed the husband.

LMPD said the victim was able to grab the weapon and use self defense before the intruder ran away.

LMPD said the male victim was cut but is okay. Police said a K9 found the suspect in a trashcan nearby.

The intruder, who was suffering from stab wounds, was taken to University Hospital.

LMPD said his injuries are not life-threatening. Police have not released his name.
