LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The woman who helped a man after he shot an Indiana deputy in the head learned how long she will spend in prison for it.
Victoria Howard, 35, took a plea deal in the case, and on Thursday, she was sentenced to three years in prison after pleaded guilty to assisting a criminal.
Indiana State Police said Austin Schepers shot Orange County Deputy Zach Andry on Jan. 3 during a traffic stop near West Baden.
Investigators believe the Schepers then went to Howard's apartment in New Albany.
They said she knew Schepers shot the deputy but still got him a Lyft ride to Louisville. Louisville police shot and killed Schepers after he fired at them the following day.
