LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The suspect in the latest Louisville Metro Police officer-involved shooting has been identified.

According to court records, 36-year-old Winthrop Taylor was arrested after a three-hour crime spree that started with a carjacking and ended with at least one person injured and shots fired at Louisville police.

It started around 11:30 p.m. Thursday when Taylor approached a women, held a gun to her, and told her to get out of her car. Taylor then told her to get back into the car, and he drove off until he hit a curb, rendering the car no longer drivable.

Taylor got out of the car with the victim and went to 310 E. Broadway. According to his citation, the victim told police she witnessed Taylor rob another person for his car. Taylor yelled and threatened the woman to get into that car.

Then, around 12:30 a.m. Friday, two LMPD officers were conducting a traffic stop near the Krispy Kreme at 3000 Bardstown Road when a driver in a Tahoe pulled up to the officers to report a shooting.

The driver in the Tahoe was at a gas station nearby when someone in another SUV, later identified as Taylor, pulled up next to him and started shooting several times.

The driver in the Tahoe left, but Taylor continued chasing him, according to court documents.

The driver of the Tahoe pulled up to officers on Bardstown Road to report the shooting at the gas station, and that's when Taylor pulled up to the Tahoe again, firing several times at the driver and the two officers.

Police said Officer Nicholas Fischer fired his gun, but it's not clear whether he hit either driver.

Taylor drove off, but the Tahoe stayed at the scene. The driver of the Tahoe was shot in both arms and was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive.

Then around 2:10 a.m., according to his citation, Taylor stole a car at gunpoint. The woman from the first carjacking Thursday night was released and called 911.

Police found Taylor at 2:15 a.m., who led police on a short chase where he tried to get on the Watterson Expressway near Bardstown Road.

Taylor hit a barrier in the stolen car and then got out and started running across the expressway.

He was tracked to the Addison Park Apartments off Trafalgar Square and was found in a crawl space. Police sent a K-9 in after him.

Police said Taylor grabbed the K-9 by its neck and tried to hold it underwater. That's when officers "engaged him," according to the citation.

Taylor was arrested at 2:38 a.m. He is facing numerous charges like murder, robbery, two counts of attempted murder of a police officer, unlawful imprisonment and fleeing police. He is due in court Saturday morning.
