LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A quadruple shooting at an apartment complex in Fern Creek Monday night left one man dead and three others injured, and at least one resident is now planning to move.Â
According to police, it happened around 11:40 p.m. Monday in the 5500 block of Overbrook Woods Place. That's at the Overbrook Apartment Homes, which has been the scene of at least two other shootings since late 2022. Â
One resident of the complex, who wishes to remain anonymous, said the shooting woke her up.
"It's just very concerning," she said. "We don't feel safe anymore."
LMPD said police found a man shot outside, who was pronounced dead at the scene. According to police, three other men were also shot and taken to UofL Hospital. Those three men are expected to survive.Â
Police said at least one of the shooting victims was found inside an apartment.
"It's not a bad area to be in, so for this to continue to happen is very scary -- something's not right," said the resident.
Another fatal shooting happened at the apartment in October 2022, and police were called back to the complex on a non-fatal shooting in August 2023.Â
"Our lease is coming to an end and we will definitely be leaving. I no longer feel safe there," said the resident.
LMPD is investigating the shooting from Monday night and said there are no known suspects.Â
The coroner's office has not released the identity of the man who was killed.
A woman who identified herself at the complex as a property manager said resident safety is a priority.Â
There have been at least 20 homicides in Louisville in 2024, which is down from the previous year according to LMPD data. In February alone, police have responded to fatal shootings in several Louisville neighborhoods including California, Jacobs, Taylor Berry, Russell, Iroquois, Okolona, the Valley Station area and Fern Creek.
Additionally, an elderly woman was stabbed to death in a patio home community in Fern Creek on Feb. 12.
