Lindsey and Penny - The Arrow Fund on Kelly Clarkson Show 1-7-25.jpg

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A dog saved by a Louisville animal rescue was featured on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" Tuesday afternoon.

The segment follows the story of Penny, a dog rescued by The Arrow Fund who persevered and recovered from broken bones caused by abuse and neglect.

Penny was rescued in 2020 by the nonprofit after a driver reported seeing her being thrown from a car.

She had already suffered broken bones in three of her four legs, caused by her abuser. One had to be amputated, and she endured years of surgeries and care to heal.

Her foster, Lindsey, fell in love with Penny and adopted her in 2021.

Lindsey and Penny appeared on the show, which airs on WDRB, to talk about Penny's story of resilience and recovery after she was honored with the American Humane Hero Dog Award.

Since Penny was adopted, she and Lindsey have continued to volunteer with The Arrow Fund. They have joined the nonprofit in traveling to the Kentucky Capitol to rally for stricter animal protection laws and raise awareness about animal abuse.

The Arrow Fund helps severely injured and neglected animals, who were subjected to extreme torture, abuse or neglect, recover and find their forever home. The nonprofit also works to raise awareness and advocate for the humane treatment of animals.
