LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Summer Olympics are still two years away but dozens of hopefuls are in the Derby City this weekend showing off their skills.

The 2026 USA Gymnastics Winter Cup is taking over the Kentucky International Convention Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 21-22, with some of the best collegiate and elite gymnasts in the country competing for a spot on the national Olympics team.

The USA Gymnastics Winter Cup is one of the largest gymnastic competitions, next to Nationals or Worlds.

People from all around the country came to Louisville, including a mom who traveled from Florida to watch her son compete. 

"It's incredible," said Katherine Boyd-Connor. "My son started gymnastics when he was five and started competing when he was seven. He is 15 and he is one of the youngest juniors competing today. Proud mom? Very Very, yeah."

Her son, Elijah, got first in the high bar.

The events continues Sunday and is open to the public. The women's competition starts Sunday at 11:45 a.m.
