LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Four students in Breckinridge County were taken to the hospital after a school bus crash on Monday afternoon.

Breckinridge County School District Superintendent Nick Carter said the head-on crash happened in the 800 block of Rosetta Corners Road, off Highway 86, around 3:20 p.m. Four students were taken to a hospital in Elizabethtown for precautionary measures.

Carter said the injuries to the four children were minor, but they were taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons. The bus driver is okay, according to Carter.

KSP Trooper Scotty Sharp, a spokesperson for the state agency, said around 35 students were riding on the bus. Sharp said the driver of the pickup truck that crashed into the bus was flown to a Louisville hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the crash that happened as students were being taken home from school.
