LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Parents and students got ready for the start of school thanks to an event in the Parkland neighborhood on Saturday.

Goodwill Industries of Kentucky held "The Last Bash," a back-to-school and resource fair at the Norton Healthcare Goodwill Opportunity campus. The event supported local families by supplying items like bookbags, sanitary supplies and other items for children.

"We're new in west Louisville so our big purpose is to bring more people into the facility who haven't been here yet so they can get more comfortable being here and understand some of the things that are here and meet some needs," said Amy Luttrell, president of Goodwill Industries of Kentucky.

Goodwill expected to have several hundred people in attendance on Saturday.

There were also services and resources available for families. Students could also get free haircuts before the school year starts.
