LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jefferson County Public Schools canceled all after-school activities Friday as severe storms are expected in the area.

JCPS said in a note to parents "more information will be coming soon" for those high schools with proms scheduled for Friday night.

The Storm Prediction Center has nearly all of the Louisville area under a "moderate risk" for severe weather Friday. That includes a 45% probability of damaging thunderstorm winds or wind gusts of 58 mph or higher. And some areas include a 10% or greater probability of wind gusts 75 mph or greater within 25 miles of a point. Those are hurricane-force winds that could take down trees that are now full of leaves.
