LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Some students at Jefferson County Public Schools showed off their basketball skills on Sunday.
The school district's wheelchair basketball team, The Louisville Lightning, held their last scrimmage against a team from Cincinnati. The scrimmage was held at Echo Trail Middle School.
The team gives students with mobility challenges to take part in a sport and compete against other schools. Rebecca Tiernan's son Brayden is on the team.
"He used to be a little angry, a little upset about his diagnosis and not being able to do what other kids can do so when he gets around other kids on the same level or close to his level it was a huge confidence boosting and it has opened him up," Tiernan said.
The Louisville Lightning is also an adapted track and field team, which begins in March.
