NELSON CO., Ky. (WDRB) -- Tempers boiled over during an hours long board meeting in Nelson County Tuesday night and now parents are calling for one member's resignation.

Nearly three hours into a four hour board meeting, member David Norman expressed his frustration with the crowd, while using expletives.

"Its been an action packed night and I really appreciate you all showing up tonight, but I want to -- It's no wonder we have so much bullying in our damn schools, the way we're getting bullied here as board members, this is bull****. Bull****," Norman said.

The discussion heated up as the board discussed how it will move forward with future generations in Nelson County Schools.

The conversation amongst board members mentioned combining its two high schools into one and referenced the Community Campus plan.

The Community Campus plan would consolidate Nelson County middle schools and create a 7-year learning experience for students, merging middle schools and high schools. The plan was already approved by the Kentucky Department of Education, but board members voted to effectively kill that plan in February.

Both board members, and the crowd interjected on numerous occasions.

Cameron Johnson, a parent of three current Nelson County Schools students and one alum, said parents have been frustrated with the lack of direction the district is heading.

Johnson also expressed frustration with the board cutting down time for public comment.

The state requires school board's to offer at least 15 minutes of public comment. Nelson County School Board capped public comment for 30 minutes on Tuesday. In the past, the board has not limited public comment.

"Yes, we do yell out because we don't have a microphone," Johnson said. "But, obviously we do contain ourselves better than what Mr. Norman did. Mr. Norman as a board member is held to a higher standard, he does have a microphone."

WDRB reached out to Norman Thursday night, by email and phone, but did not hear back.

"We're adults, we can handle profanity, not a big deal," Johnson said. "But when the little kids were there, that kind of got me and luckily the parents rushed them out pretty quick."

Johnson, and other parents, are demanding he resign.

"I don't think he's a good fit," said Johnson.

WDRB also reached out to the remaining board members but have not heard back.
