LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two former chiefs of the Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Department in southern Indiana were arrested on felony charges after allegedly stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the department, Indiana State Police said.
Indiana State Police said in a release an investigation began in early 2025 after allegations surfaced that the former chiefs misappropriated funds between 2021 and 2024. The investigation was conducted with assistance from the Indiana State Board of Accounts.
Authorities said Bradley T. Jacobs, 56, of Paris Crossing, allegedly embezzled more than $70,000 from January 2021 to January 2023. Brent A. McInteer, 29, of Bedford, is accused of stealing more than $40,000 between February 2023 and April 2024.
Police said both men accessed the department’s bank account and credit card, transferring money to personal accounts and making personal purchases.
Jennings County Prosecutor’s Office reviewed the case, and arrest warrants were issued for both men on charges including theft, official misconduct and corrupt business influence.
McInteer was arrested Wednesday in Lawrence County. Jacobs was arrested Thursday and is being held in the Jennings County Jail. Both are scheduled to make initial appearances in Jennings County Circuit Court soon.
