LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Residents in Fairdale will have to wait longer for repairs to a road that was washed away during flash flooding in February.

Mitchell Hill Road, near Top Hill Road, has been closed since intense rainfall caused significant damage, including a slope failure, according to Louisville Metro Councilman Dan Seum.

Louisville Public Works and its consultant, Strand Associates, began geotechnical monitoring and surveying in May. Seum’s office said the monitoring is expected to take about six weeks. Once that is complete, design work on repairs can begin.

Public Works is still waiting on a timeline from the consulting firm.

In the meantime, the agency is also working with the Metro Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on both repair and mitigation efforts for Mitchell Hill Road.
