LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Scott County Sherriff's Office in Kentucky warned residents of a person impersonating an officer and conducting fake traffic stops in the area.

According to a post Saturday from the sheriff's office, officers recently received reports of an unmarked gray Dodge Charger with red and blue lights pulling people over in Scott County for traffic violations, claiming to be with the sheriff's department.

The office confirmed this vehicle isn't part of its fleet, and the majority of its cars will be marked with "Sheriff" on the side. They said any car from their unmarked fleet will have blue lights only — never red.

The post said anyone who believes they are being pulled over by a suspicious vehicle is within their rights to call 911 to confirm the legitimacy of the stop.
