LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — An arrest was made in the 2021 shooting death of a 21-year-old Michigan man who was visiting family in Louisville, police said.

Louisville Metro Police said Jesse Montez Galloway, 39, was taken into custody on an indictment warrant in connection with the case.

He is charged with murder, first-degree wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence and being a persistent felony offender.

The charges stem from the Oct. 2, 2021 shooting of JaQuarius “Cory” Bettison in the Moore Court area of the Algonquin neighborhood.

Bettison, who was from Grand Rapids, Michigan, traveled to Louisville to visit family when he was shot. He was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, where he died weeks later.

Galloway was arraigned Monday.

Police did not release additional details about what led to Galloway’s arrest.
