LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville double shooting victim says he got justice the day police shot and killed Nathan Walker.
Walker, 18, was wanted for shooting twin brothers Ravon and Remon Allen just after 5:30 a.m. Friday, March 20, in the 700 block of East Caldwell Street. Remon died in the shooting. Ravon, who was injured, is now speaking out about the horrifying night.
"I woke up to being shot four or five times," he said. "I literally felt every shot, and I was in pain."
Allen said he tried to open his eyes and initially couldn't see anything. Once he got his vision back, he called police. While he waited, he looked for his twin brother.
"I tried slapping his leg as hard as I could, like once or twice, but he never moved or responded, so I felt, then he passed," he said.
Several weeks later, Louisville Metro Police officers found the suspect in the shooting, Walker, near the Taco Bell on on South 1st Street and West Broadway. Walker had been living with the twin brothers for several months.
"We started having a close bond with the guy, and for him to do what he did, it was shocking and surprising because we never lived that type of way," said Allen.
Surveillance and body camera video shows officers pulling up to Walker, asking him to put his hands up and then Walker pointing a gun at officers. That's when detectives shot him several times. When he wasn't moving anymore, they took his gun. He died at the scene.
Detectives found a second gun in Walker's backpack, which was identified as the gun used in the murder of Remon Allen.
"I felt like justice was served, because the way he shot and killed my twin brother and the way I was shot, yeah, I really feel like it was justice," said Ravon Allen.
Allen was told he may never see out of his right eye again and he still needs several surgeries, but now he's living on for his twin brother.
"It hurts not waking up beside him or waking up knowing that he's not there," he said. "Every day, I just want to live in my brother's name or, you know, just try to make him happy."
