LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro Police are trying to find the driver who hit an 18-year-old riding his bike home from work Friday night.

Kingston Maestas was hit around midnight at the intersection of Dixie Highway and Valley Station Road. The driver did not stop. Maestas suffered a collapsed lung and internal bleeding.

Security cameras from nearby businesses captured the incident, and LMPD said its detectives have used it to develop a vehicle description, which has not yet been shared.

Maestas' father said the location of the accident may have made all the difference.

"It could have happened on a side road, on an alley somewhere where no witnesses ... much different outcome," David Magalogo said. "But it happened right here. Luckily there was witnesses."

Magalogo said Maestas is already up and walking in the hospital, calling his son's recovery nothing short of a miracle.
