LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Thousands of Kentuckiana families treated father figures to several one-of-a-kind experiences for Father's Day on Sunday.

Between brunches, boat rides and breweries, fathers around the local area were showered with love this weekend.

Cameron Nolin and his son Caius went to the pool, Malibu Jacks and Union Restaurant & Gameyard.

"He loves me and does stuff for me," Caius said.

The two have a special bond. They have the same birthday, March 4.

Fathers enjoy Sunday at Union Restaurant & Gameyard on Father's Day.

"He was actually supposed to come on the second, I didn't even think about the fourth," Cameron said. "I am thinking he was going to come on time, come after, come the day before. I didn't even think about it. Then it happened and it was pretty cool."

The memories on Father's Day weekend go beyond southern Indiana.

In Louisville, thousands of families visited Kentucky Kingdom for a day filled with water and rides. Children had just as much fun as their fathers at the amusement park.

"It is fun," Lyle Yeager said. "Everything is new and exciting to them and I get to enjoy it with them."

Yeager took his three children to Kentucky Kingdom for the special day. His youngest child made a card for him.

Some dads enjoyed free admission at the Louisville Zoo courtesy of Ford. Others spent the day at Churchill Downs.

"Fathers are important, so are mothers too," Cameron said. "We need to shape the young men and young women of the future."

Instead of going to a Father's Day event, some people chose to go to a distillery or golf course instead.
