MADISON, Ind. (WDRB) -- The four people who died inside a house fire in southern Indiana were identified by authorities on Wednesday.
According to Indiana State Police, Naomi Briner, age 35, Adelia Briner, age 12, Leland Briner, age 8, and Iyla Briner, age 6, were all found dead.
Police said it's believed that Naomi Briner was the mother of the three victims. An investigation determined that all four victims "had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds at the time they were located inside of the residence," according to police.
ISP has not said whether the victims died in the fire or from gunshot wounds. Police said there is no threat to the public, but didn't release information about a potential suspect.
The home in the 1600 block of East Telegraph Hill Road went up in flames Tuesday afternoon.
Photos from the scene show the charred roof and a burned van in the driveway, along with the remnants of Christmas lights strung across the yard.
ISP is taking the lead on the investigation, working with partners like the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, State Fire Marshal's office, coroner's office and the prosecutor's office.
Investigators have been using drones and other tools to survey the house and surrounding area. Several items were recovered from the house for further investigation.
Crews responded to the burning home around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
