LEITCHFIELD, Ky. (WDRB) -- A monster truck show in Grayson County was canceled last month, and now, nearly a month later, some people are still waiting to get their money back.
David Rife, the organizer for the show, said Thursday that after only selling about 500 tickets to Monster Truck Bash, he decided to cancel the show scheduled for May 24. In a Facebook post, the Grayson County Fairgrounds apologized for any inconvenience and said the organizer — Rife, conceivably — has stopped contacting them and advised people to contact their bank to dispute the charges for a refund.
"At this time, the promoter has quit making contact with us, and we have no other choice but to tell you to contact your credit card company and dispute the charges to recover your money," the post said. "We strive to bring high quality events to the community, and unfortunately we’ve made a mistake signing this promoter."
People then took to social media, upset they paid for tickets and hadn't gotten a refund.
"We had a date that we had sent to him, of 6/28, that we could have reschedule to," said Adam Williams, motor sport coordinator for the Grayson County Fairgrounds. "However, I messaged (Rife), I don't know, probably three days in a row and never got a response. I guess through social media we found out that it was canceled altogether."Â
Rife said people have begun receiving refunds via their purchase method, like a reimbursement on their credit or debit cards.
"We don't have our own ticket service," Rife said Thursday. "There's no mass refund button because in their ticket sale system ... so they have to go through and individually refund every one of them."
Tickets ranged from $10 to $40 per person.
