LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky High School Athletic Association held its first-ever indoor track and field state championship this weekend in Louisville.

The two-day meet featured the top 24 competitors in three classes from around the state at the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center in the Russell neighborhood. 

"We talked to a lot of coaches and gotten a lot of feedback from athletes and they are excited for the KHSAA to take over and they're excited for this first year and these kids always get to say they were the first state champions ever," said Sarah Bidenbaugh with KHSAA.

St. Xavier and Trinity tied and were co-champions in the boys Class 3-A title while duPont Manual claimed the girls Class 3-A title. Grace Bethel, a freshman from Louisville Male High School, won state championships in the 60-meet and 200-meter runs.

Tula Fawbush, from Oldham County High School, won the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:34. Caden Cull from Male won the boys side of the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:57.83.
