LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- West Louisville residents now have some new amenities at Chickasaw Park.

Saturday was the official opening of the newly renovated Chickasaw Park pond. It's an acre and a half and deep enough for Kentucky Fish and Wildlife to stock this fall.

It is west Louisville's only other spot to fish besides the Ohio River. Park goers can also canoe at the pond.

New parking and lighting was also added.

"This is the best," Councilwoman Donna Purvis, D-5, said. "This is like something you dream of and you never know or would have never expected to have this type of amenity in a park in the west end - this is beautiful."

The American Rescue Plan helped pay for the $2.5 million project.
