LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Hardin County Schools will out of school Monday, Feb. 2 for a professional work day for teachers.

The decision was made during a special meeting Saturday of the Hardin County Board of Education, the district said in a news release. The board voted to amend the 2025-26 school calendar after the recent winter weather caused snow and Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) days this past week.

The district said a decision hasn't been made about school on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, which will be announced via the district's social media, local news and direct messaging.

The district said the professional work day gives teachers time to prepare NTI lessons and materials, "ensuring academic continuity should winter weather require further building closures."
