LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville chef is heating things up on the newest season of "Hell's Kitchen."

Chef Devon Rosenblatt has dreamed of whipping up a meal for Gordon Ramsay since he was a kid, and said his time on his cooking show was meaningful.

"I grew up inside restaurants, so it was destined to be," Rosenblatt said. "Chef Ramsey was always one of my biggest inspirations for getting into food."

He got the opportunity of a lifetime when producers for the show reached out to him.

"Being on 'Hell's Kitchen' was validating and humbling at the same time," he said. "Chef Ramsay has a very unique way of making you feel appreciated, but also pushing you to be better."

Rosenblatt was particularly proud to be on this season because of the theme, "The American Dream."

"Not too long ago, these opportunities wouldn't have existed for someone of my color," he said.

He said it meant a lot for him to step out on a national stage as a minority.

"The biggest thing for me was the opportunity to be on a platform and say 'Hey, I made it,'" he said. "That's something that a lot of people further up in my family could never have done, and never have said."

The show also taught him a lot, and Rosenblatt couldn't wait to spice things up back home in Louisville.

"I think the younger me would look at the current me and be honestly amazed," he said.

You can catch Rosenblatt on "Hell's Kitchen" every Thursday at 8 p.m. on WDRB.
