LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A massive semi-trailer fire caused all southbound lanes of Interstate 65 to be closed Wednesday night where some people sat in traffic for more than three hours.

The semi caught fire at the Eastern Parkway exit in Louisville.

A little before 7 p.m. Wednesday, Louisville Fire crews were called to I-65 South near the Eastern Parkway exit for a vehicle fire.

Louisville Fire said there were no injuries or hazardous materials involved.

Firefighters had to drag water lines up to the scene, so the ramp to I-65 South from University Boulevard had to be closed as well.

There was quite a bit of debris on the roadway, so the interstate was closed for some time.

The roadway reopened around 2 a.m. Thursday morning.
