LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita is warning Hoosiers about a scam targeting the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Fake emails and texts are claiming to be a "final notice" from the Indiana Motor Vehicle Administration, not the Indiana BMV, according to a news release from Rokita's office.
The scam messages claim by June 26, anyone with outstanding tickets will be reported, their registration suspended, driving privileges suspended and other threats.
Residents are urged to not click on any links in unsolicited emails or texts claiming to be from the BMV. Also, do not provide personal information and don't share credit card or bank information.
Report any unwanted text messages as junk and block the phone number or email address it came from. You can also forward any spam emails to the FTC at spam@uce.gov and report it at reportFraud.ftc.gov.
