LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A tractor accident in southern Indiana killed a 68-year-old woman and a 4-year-old boy. 

According to a news release Wednesday from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to an accident in Redding Township about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday.  

When deputies arrived, they found a woman and child who'd been hit by a farm tractor. The boy was taken to the Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, where he died. The woman was flown by a medical helicopter to UofL Health Hospital in downtown Louisville. She died early Wednesday morning. 

"Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the family and all involved," Sheriff Rick Meyer said in the news release.

The accident remains under investigation.
