LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Indiana taxpayers can now find out if they qualify for a limited-time opportunity to wipe out penalties on overdue taxes.

The Indiana Department of Revenue has launched a new online eligibility tool for its Tax Amnesty 2026 program, which gives eligible individuals and businesses a chance to settle past-due tax debts without penalties, interest, or collection fees.

The amnesty window will run from July 15 through Sept. 9, 2026.

According to state officials, the program applies to existing tax liabilities for all tax types managed by the Indiana Department of Revenue and Motor Carrier Services, as long as the debt dates back to before Jan. 1, 2024.

A minimum balance is required to participate in payment plans — at least $100 for individuals and $500 for businesses.

Taxpayers who qualify will be able to pay in full or enroll in a payment plan once the program officially opens. The state says the initiative is designed to encourage compliance while easing the burden of old tax debt.

The eligibility tool is available now through the state’s INTIME system, allowing users to check their status ahead of the program’s launch.
