LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Jeffersonville Animal Shelter is encouraging people to adopt.

The animal shelter in southern Indiana is over maximum capacity on dogs.

"If you are missing your dog in the Clark County area, please come look for them," the shelter said in a post on Facebook. "If you are on our schedule to surrender in the next few weeks, consider holding on to the animal a little longer or try rehoming yourself."

The shelter said it is "facing some tough decisions if something doesn't change."

The animal shelter is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
