LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A suspect is on the run after a police chase Friday night in southern Indiana ended with a trooper’s vehicle overturning.
According to Indiana State Police, a traffic stop was attempted near the 3.4-mile marker on northbound Interstate 65 in Clark County for a missing license plate.
The driver refused to stop and went north for a quarter of a mile before crashing into another vehicle.
This caused that vehicle to crash into an ISP trooper’s vehicle, which overturned.
All three vehicles ended up in the left lane of northbound I-65 near Lewis and Clark Parkway.
Police said the trooper extricated himself from his overturned vehicle and detained the suspected driver, 22-year-old Lamyaa Johnson of Louisville.
But a passenger in the suspect's vehicle fled on foot and still hasn't been found.
According to police, two children from the car Johnson crashed into were taken to Norton Children’s as a precaution. The driver of the vehicle was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Johnson and the ISP trooper were taken to the hospital to be evaluated and were released.
Police said there were no major injuries.
Johnson was taken to the Clark County Jail and has been charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle resulting in bodily injury, reckless driving, obstruction of justice, assisting a criminal and aggressive driving.
