Judge to decide where to hold David Camm's third murder trial

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A judge is close to deciding where David Camm's third murder trial will be held. The special judge in the case says he is still looking at a county just north of Indianapolis, but for now he is not saying exactly where it is.

"I expected something to happen," said Sam Lockhart, David Camm's uncle. "I think something did happen, probably, you know, in chambers, but I'm not sure what that was. So, I'm disappointed, but I'm here."

Frank Renn, Kim Camm's father, said, "It's kind of important to know exactly where you're going to be at, so we kind of go up and walk through, get to know the area a little bit, because we've got to get room and everything for the time we're going to be up there."

The former Indiana state trooper has twice been convicted of killing his wife, Kim, and their two children, Jill and Brad at their Georgetown, Indiana home in 2000. Both convictions were overturned.

Last month the judge currently assigned to the case denied a request for Camm to be able to post bond before his pending third trial. He is currently in an Evansville Jail.

Camm's defense team has argued that his Sixth Amendment right to a fair and speedy trial has been violated because of the amount of time it's taking for the case to be heard for a third time.

Part of the holdup was caused by a change in prosecutors. Earlier this year a new prosecutor, Stan Levco, was assigned to the case. The change was made after Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson was removed because of a conflict of interest over a book deal he signed.

Right now, a third trial is scheduled to start in August of 2013.
