LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's called "Jim Porter's Good Time Emporium" for a reason.
"Everybody found a place, made friends here, and just had a really good time," said Caitlin Wardlow.
Those good times are over, but that doesn't mean the memories die.
That old-school beer you drank, that BB King concert you saw that rocked the house, and the Buick you drove to the club can all be tangible, in a way, again. That is -- if the price is right.
"Everything will sell to the highest bidder," Joe Gribbins of Wardlow Auctions Inc. said.
When he says everything, he means just about everything. Statues, light fixtures, even the iconic swing that hangs over the melody bar.
"People remember certain things, certain signs, or certain memorabilia and they want to try to get that," Gribbins explained.
They will get their chance beginning June 21st. It won't be a live auction with the fast talking and big crowds.
"Everyone has worked really hard trying to get this together," Wardlow said.
The auctioneers and staff with Wardlow Auctions Incorporated have spent this week cleaning, and sorting each item to prepare for online bids at
wardlowauc.com.
"We've just found that you can reach a bigger market," she added.
Each item -- no matter how big, small, dusty, or sparkly could go for a bag of change or for thousands.
"The only thing we do know is it's all going to sell," Wardlow said.
A big online turn-out is anticipated because when you have a place that's been around for as long as Jim Porter's, the good times that made great memories don't fade easily.
