LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman visited the United States' southern border Wednesday.

Coleman was one of around a dozen attorney's general and local law enforcement to visit the southwest border in Yuma, Arizona. The group will receive an update on President Donald Trump's efforts to secure the border.

Illegal border crossings, which soared in the first years of President Joe Biden’s administration, reaching nearly 10,000 arrests per day in late 2023, dropped significantly during his last year in office and plunged further after Trump returned to the White House.

Coleman said illegal border crossings have gone down from about 1,500 people per day on average to four people per day.

Kentucky has also worked with the Trump Administration to close a shipping loophole that let fentanyl come into the Commonwealth undetected.
