LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Three numbers are keeping a Kentucky high school cross country runner from running in state championships this weekend.

Codie Thacker was ready to go for the gold at regionals last weekend, but she received a bib number with the numbers 666.

She says, "I just don't believe that 666 should be a number that's anywhere on your body, and I did not want that number associated with me. It kind of made me sick."

Her coach tried to get the number changed, but the request was denied.  So Thacker stood up for her religious beliefs, and opted out of the race.

A representative for the Kentucky High School Athletic Association says they were never told religious reasons were in play.
