LOUISVILLE, Ky - State officials are testing several Kentucky lakes for high levels of toxic algae.
Kentucky division of water official Clark Dorman tells WDRB that 12 to 13 lakes are being tested for blue-green algae.
These lakes are not run by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Earlier this year, officials advised the public that five Corps-run lakes contained the blue-green algae.
In high amounts, the algae is toxic to people and animals. Officials say the results for this round of testing will be released sometime next week.
