LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The city of Louisville is recognizing its newest Hometown Hero.
Kevin Cosby received an official Hometown Heroes banner Thursday, Sept. 18. The banner is on the north-facing wall of the Republic Bank Plaza Building on the corner of 7th and Market streets.
Cosby is the President of Simmons College of Kentucky, Louisville's only Historically Black College and University.
After 20 years of his leadership, the college has more than 600 students and five campus locations.
"Dr. Cosby has also been a hero to many people, including myself individually, not in front of the cameras, when no one is present, the personal counseling, inspiration, teaching, that he has shared with so many thousands of people across our city is truly amazing," Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said during the banner's unveiling Thursday.
Cosby has also served as the Senior Pastor of St. Stephen Baptist Church for 46 years, the largest African American church in the state.
