FRANKFORT, Ky. (WDRB) -- Governor Steve Beshear took a big step towards snuffing out tobacco use in the state.
Today, Kentucky governor Steve Beshear expanded the ban on smoking in state buildings to include outdoor areas.
No one will be allowed to smoke anywhere on state building property, and that ban will include all tobacco products.
The use of chewing tobacco, snuff and E-cigarettes will also be banned in state vehicles.
“No longer will you have to walk through a cloud of smoke to enter one of these buildings or sit in a conference room next to a coworker who spits juice from a dip,” Beshear said.
The new orders go into effect on November 20th.
Outdoor areas like state parks and fairgrounds are exempt from the new rules, but Beshear says he hopes they will also eventually become smoke-free.
