LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Lane closures are scheduled starting Monday on Interstate 65 on the Kennedy Bridge over the Ohio River.
Starting Monday evening at 6 p.m., two right lanes on I-65 south on the bridge going into Louisville will close for steel repairs, according to Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. One of the lanes is expected to open back up at 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
The far right lane is scheduled to stay closed until Oct. 15.
Once southbound repairs are completed, construction will start on the northbound lanes.
KYTC said the left three lanes will be closed overnight beginning Oct. 15, at 6 p.m. through Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 6 a.m. The left two lanes will remain closed until Tuesday, Dec. 24, at 6 a.m.
The entire $3 million project is expected to be completed by May 2025. It began in July 2024.
KYTC said the project follows a federally required inspection of older bridges across the country built with "T-1" steel.
