LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Lane restrictions will go into effect on the Sherman Minton Bridge next week as officials complete their final inspections following years of construction and repair.
According to a news release from the Sherman Minton Renewal Project, to accommodate the inspections, short-term, single-lane restrictions will start on or after Tuesday, Jan. 21, and affect the eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 64 (both decks) to allow safe access to the bridge.
Inspections are expected to daily, from approximately 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, Jan. 24, depending on weather conditions. Lane restrictions may alternate from left to right lanes depending on where access is required. All ramps will remain open during inspection activities.
Restrictions may or may not be in effect for the entire period noted. Motorists should slow down, drive distraction-free and be aware of changing traffic patterns.
Delays are expected while work is in progress and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.
If inspection activities must be rescheduled due to weather or other circumstances, lane restrictions will occur the week of Monday, January 27.
