LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — There is still an active warrant out for the arrest of former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin after he appeared via Zoom on Tuesday morning via in Jefferson Family Court.

Jefferson Family Court Judge Angela Johnson said Bevin was ordered to attend the hearing in person, but Bevin's attorney, according said his client was driving home from his ex-wife's father's funeral in Oklahoma.

At issue is financial documents the court asked Bevin to provide to determine child support in the case of his adoptive son, Jonah Bevin, who accused his parents of sending him to an abusive boarding school in Jamaica when he was a teenager.

"You appealed to the Court of Appeals, and they said that you are not to be treated any different than anyone else as far as the ceiling, etc.," Johnson said during Tuesday's hearing. "You are in contempt, and I do hereby sentence you 60 days in jail to serve."

The judge said Bevin can avoid jail time if he pays a $500 fine and submits financial records to determine child support in the ongoing case involving his adoptive son. The court says it has repeatedly asked Bevin for financial documents like tax returns and bank statements.

"I can't understand how a bank statement can show income. I  just can't," Jesse Mudd, Bevin's attorney, said during t hearing. "... It's a moving target that's being asked of my client."

Johnson told Mudd what is being asked of Bevin is no different than what is asked of any client when determining child support.

"You keep repeating, in your opinion, it's not germane, and that's the crux of the problem, sir," she said. "That tells me you knowingly disobeyed this court's order."

"Ma'am, if I may?" Bevin interjected.

"No, you may not," Johnson replied.

"I'm not saying it's not relevant," Bevin continued. "I've been providing it and gathering it intentionally in response to the request."

"What the court says, what the statute says, it is relevant for the issue of child support because you yourself ..." Johnson said, before Bevin interrupted. "Sir, I am speaking."

"I'm sorry," Bevin replied, apologizing and adding there was a delay on the Zoom call.

The court said Bevin only provided a financial disclosure statement and no supporting documents that were due Tuesday morning. Johnson reiterated the court has requested the documents multiple times.

"I told you in May 2025," she said. "I told you in February of this year. (I) twice told you on March the 10th. I told you again this past Friday."

"Neither Glenna or myself are earning much, if any income," Bevin replied. "We have been spending in recent years, money in the sale of properties and from savings, and the information respective from the amount of income that I have has already been provided."

The Bevins, who are officially divorced, had nine children together, including four adopted children. Another family court hearing is scheduled for Friday. Bevin's attorney didn't return calls for comment.
