LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A robbery suspect wanted in Hardin County, Kentucky was arrested Friday after a police chase ended on the Kennedy Bridge in Louisville.
According to Indiana State Police, troopers were alerted shortly after 3 p.m. that 49-year-old Bruce Rogers was possibly in the Jeffersonville, Indiana area.
The Hardin County Sheriff's Office in Kentucky said Rogers was wanted on a warrant connected to an armed robbery around 8:30 a.m. Friday in the 23400 block of Dixie Highway in West Point. Police said Rogers got away with money and merchandise.
No one was injured during the robbery. Hardin County Sheriff's Office said witnesses gave a description of the possible suspect vehicle, a black Nissan sedan, recently reported stolen out of Louisville.
Later Friday afternoon, ISP officers located the black Nissan sedan vehicle at an apartment complex in Jeffersonville, but police said Rogers drove away before officers could approach him. When troopers attempted a traffic stop, Rogers fled.
Police said Rogers drove onto 10th Street, where officers with the Jeffersonville Police Department deployed a tire deflation device. The car was damaged, but police said Rogers continued southbound onto Interstate 65 toward Louisville.
Troopers then used a PIT maneuver on the Kennedy Bridge, bringing the car to a stop. Police said a brief standoff followed before Rogers was taken into custody by ISP and Jeffersonville officers.
Rogers was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Once released, police said he will be jailed on multiple charges.
Southbound lanes of I-65 on the Kennedy Bridge were temporarily shut down during the incident.
