LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The LMPD Homicide Unit is mourning the loss of one of their own.Â
Homicide detectives tell WDRB Sgt. Jon Lesher had a heart attack in his sleep Saturday night and passed away.Â
Lesher was in his early 40s and is survived by his wife Debbie and their two children, Spencer and Allie.Â
The Louisville Police Pipes and Drums Facebook page shared their condolences with Lesher's family and his fellow officers at LMPD.Â

"It's hard for me to even write this, he's been my brother for 19 years ..." Louisville Metro Council President David James wrote on Twitter Sunday afternoon, sharing several photos of Lesher.
 Funeral arrangements for Lesher are pending, LMPD Lt. Emily McKinley wrote on Facebook.
