LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Dozens of children will now have a brighter Christmas thanks to Louisville Metro Police officers.

LMPD's Seventh Division Shop With a Cop event was held on Saturday morning. Kentucky attorney general Russell Coleman also attended.

Police shopped for 14 different families to benefit at least 28 children. All eight LMPD Divisions participate in their own Shop With a Cop event leading up to Christmas.

The event is also sponsored by the Louisville Metro Police Foundation, which used donations for the shopping spree. Many of the officers use their own money to add to the gifts.

Police officers said they look forward to the event every year.
