LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The holiday season is looking brighter for dozens of children in Louisville.
Officers from Louisville Metro Police Department's Second Division held its annual shop with a cop Saturday at the Walmart on Outer Loop. Organizers said 47 children took part.
Most of them thought they were getting one or two items, but each child left with about $450 of items - from toys and games to food, clothing, and video games.
Major Russ Miller said it's a way for the department to create a bond with those they serve.
"It's just a really exciting thing to be able to do to see as they are checking out and through the line what all they get, how much they get, and how happy they are," Miller said.
When the day was over, between $25,000 and $30,000 was spent on the families.
