LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Christmas is still a couple weeks away, but dozens of children got an early celebration in Louisville's Portland neighborhood.

The 48th annual Portland Community Christmas Party took place at the Molly Leonard Community Center on Saturday. It's all organized by the Portland Little League.

Families who had children under 12 attended and event had photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Each child received a toy and a bag of goodies.

Organizer Matt Brinson said the event is supported by Portland neighborhood businesses, churches, and non-profits.

"It takes three of four months to plan it, and a lot of donations and a lot of support. Without the donations we could not do it, so it is several months of hard work," Brinson said.

More than 500 people attended from dozens of area families.
