LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A longtime Metro Louisville employee will temporarily run Transit Authority of River City while the city's mayor looks for a new executive director.

Ozzy Gibson will help with the transition starting this month, a city spokesperson said Friday.

Gibson will take over as interim executive director in January when current director Carrie Butler resigns.

He's currently the interim director for Louisville Parks and Recreation, a position he will keep while at TARC.

Gibson has been with the city for more than 30 years in several departments, and has also been a police officer.

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg announced in November that Butler had resigned after more than three tumultuous years as TARC's executive director. Her resignation is effective Dec. 31.

Greenberg is conducting a nationwide search to find a permanent replacement.
