LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A famous dish lands Louisville at the top of an impressive list with other cities from around the world.
National Geographic released its top 10 food cities in the world. Each is known for an unforgettable dish and in Louisville, it's the Hot Brown.
The open faced turkey sandwich with cream sauce was created as a midnight snack for guests at the Brown Hotel.
Cities in Italy, France and Japan also made the list for foods that made them famous.
Cincinnati came in at number six for its unique chili, while Buffalo, New York, ranked third for the popular spicy chicken wings of the same name.Â
Correction: A previous version of this story listed Cincinnati as the only other U.S. city on the list.Â
