LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- No injuries were reported after separate fires in two vacant buildings early Tuesday morning.
Both fires "required aggressive firefighting operations and are currently under investigation," according to a news release from the Louisville Fire Department.
The first call came in at 1:18 a.m. to report a fire in the 2400 block of Rowan Street, where heavy flames had engulfed the first and second floors of the building, according to the release. Crews faced challenges getting inside due to boarded openings and debris throughout the building.
Twenty-eight firefighters worked for nearly an hour before bringing the fire under control. The structure was heavily damaged, and nearby properties were affected.
The Red Cross assisted three adults who were displaced.
A few hours later, at 4:53 a.m., firefighters were sent to the 1100 block of Dixie Highway after flames broke out on the second floor of another two-story vacant building. The fire also threatened nearby sections of the building. Crews arrived quickly at the scene and kept the fire contained to the upper level in about 18 minutes.
No injuries were reported in either case. The Louisville Fire arson bureau is investigating both accidents.
